Why These Recipes Exist

from Michael Connor, co-founder of VitalityIP

At VitalityIP, we believe food is medicine—but we also know that nutrition is incredibly complex for most people. The numbers tell a stark story:

  • 74% of Americans are overweight or obese
  • 1 in 3 adults has prediabetes, and most don't know it
  • Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death in the U.S.
  • Alzheimer's disease is increasingly referred to as "Type 3 Diabetes"—a metabolic condition linked to diet and lifestyle

We're working to change this. Our company partners with commercial food service companies that feed 70 million people daily, Title 1 schools serving children in poverty, and forward-thinking retailers who understand that food is a cornerstone of health.

Our Approach

We've built an AI-powered system that balances four things people actually care about: taste, health, convenience, and value. Recipes are at the heart of this equation.

When we tried to license existing recipes, the costs were prohibitive—several dollars per recipe per month. Worse, most recipes don't provide what we need: integration with nutrition databases like the USDA FoodData Central, accurate prep and cook times, required equipment, allergen information, and dietary labels.

So we created our own.

Our Mission

Our goal is simple: connect people with recipes tailored to their health needs, then partner with retailers to get fresh ingredients to their doorstep in under an hour.

But this is about more than convenience. We want to help resurrect the family meal—people cooking at home, spending time with family and friends over good food. We can't do that without great recipes.

How You Can Help

We need people to cook these recipes and tell us if they're clear, accurate, and delicious. Our team cooks every night, but with over 1,500 recipes, we don't yet have the people or funding to test them all.

If you try one, we'd love to hear from you.
